Bread For The Journey

Jesus is what truly satisfies the hunger which fills our lives. When we choose to address our hunger with that which is temporal, we miss out on that which satisfies.

A Messy Messiah

Matthew’s record of Jesus’ genealogy messes with the tight categories and limited exclusions that we often place on those who can be part of and used in God’s family. The way Matthew’s Messiah messes with us is in the inclusion of a set of mothers in an otherwise patriarchal genealogy. As we consider why these […]

Love That Makes All Things New

The Resurrection is good news in that it signals that God makes all things new, a new creation that restores things to the way God designed … including our very lives.

Love That Conquers Death

Death is the great tragedy of the human experience, so when Jesus went to the cross on a Friday, it was anything but “good.” The darkness and the tragedy of Good Friday capture how we often feel in life: overwhelmed by brokenness in the world, filled with discouragement or despair, aware of the darkness and […]

Knowing God Through Community

We are created in the image of God. As image bearers, we are called to reflect God’s character to the world around us; both to believers and to unbelievers. In so doing we allow others to see God through us.

Knowing God Through Scripture

Every relationship communication must pass both ways. Through prayer we talk to Gold. Through Scripture we listen to God. If we misunderstand what Scripture is we will misunderstand the message that God is attempting to communicate to us.

Knowing God Through Prayer

When you meet a new person, how do you get to know them? Fundamentally, you talk to them. Well, if there is a God—a personal, knowable God–how do we get to know him? We talk to him. That sounds simple enough, but what is prayer exactly?

Making The Introduction

God desires to have a personal relationship with us. However, we often may shy away from getting too close to God because of the previous way he was introduced to us. Today, you have the opportunity to be reintroduced to God by being introduced afresh to the person and character of Jesus.

Can I Know God Personally

God designed us to have a relationship with Him. However, our decision to sin severed our personal bond with Him. Yet, the reason Jesus came to earth was so that everyone who trusts in him can know God personally—the relationship we were created to enjoy.

Is The Bible Reliable

One’s answer to the reliability of the Bible may depend on what one believes the Bible to be.  The Bible is more than a book: it is God’s love letter to humanity. It defines how God planned for our relationship to work. We have more reason to trust its claims than those of any other […]

Is Christianity Too Narrow

Most religions boil down to humanity trying to reach God, but Christianity is God reaching humanity. Following Jesus is different from every other faith on earth in that He sacrificed to get to us, rather than us sacrificing to get to Him. God provided a way for everyone to have peace. This is profoundly inclusive—not […]
